North Bay, ON Jan 20 2013 - When Kevin Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella heard a voice saying “If you build it, he will come”, he built a baseball diamond in his Iowa cornfield for ghosts of days gone by. The emotionally gripping story ended with hundreds of headlights heading down the country roads towards his “Field of Dreams”.
Although the premise for this article is quite different, being that there are no ghosts involved and baseball is so unrelated to drag racing; the movie’s title and dramatic ending spark me to “borrow” the famous line with a little modification…. “Build it and they will come”.
Built on acreage mostly surrounded by forest, south-east of North Bay, Ontario, the new King of the North Dragway is surely the “Field of Dreams” for two guys from Bonfield, ON
King of the North Dragway releases a full calendar of events for 2013

The calander of events has been released for King of the North Dragway and Event Park which opens for the first season on June 7th. “We expect to get a couple of weekends of testing and tuning in before the Grand Opening” said Project Manager Allan Dell, “a lot is going to depend on the weather and getting the facility certified prior to opening”. “Construction hasn’t stopped even in the winter” said Dell. Crews have been working on the multi-million dollar facility since early 2011.

The dates have been set for opening Ontario’s newest dragway and event park in Bonfield. Friday,
June 7th through Sunday June 9th will see the first major race event in the brand-new facility. “We
originally wanted to open with an event on Victoria Day weekend, May 17th, however after meeting
with racers and construction companies it was decided that we best postpone until June.” stated Project
Manager Allan Dell.
